Over a couple of weeks, we thought about what to do and where to go on my birthday. A short look at the forecasts made the decision quite easy: lets go to the sun – lets go to Mallorca!
A few days earlier I bought a new lens for wildlife photography and I was looking for testing it. After a longer break for a couple of years I continued with wildlife photography in 2018. This year, I wanted to upgrade the lens to a focus length which I already had before: a „600mm supertele-lens“.
In the past, I was able to visit most of my favorite spots in landscape photography – my impression is that some elements are repeating from time to time. So, I decided to explore some more categories of nature photography. In the future, I will continue shooting landscapes in my main & longer journeys. But at weekend- or short trips I will more and more create some wildlife pics – with my macro lens or this „supertele-lens“. One of my upcoming highlights will be to shoot puffins in Northern Europe.
For „birdies“ and fans of nature the South of Mallorca has a lot to discover. You can shoot singing birds near the beautiful plants and forests or waterfowls in their photogenic habitat.
One moment which will stay in my mind: last Sunday I was shooting near the salines. Suddenly there was a European stonechat and a European siskin straight in front of my car. A few meters behind there were 2(!) hoopoes searching for food. Furthermore a french partridge crossed the scene. That was insane, at least for ornithologists and bird photographers…
Now, I wish you a lot of fun with these 24 pictures of wildlife, landscape and details of nature.
Best regards,
Thomas
