Spanish contrasts: mountains and valleys

Straight after our first stop in western Asturias, we went on to the east. The second stop was "Picos de Europa" and the third stop the "Flysch Route of Geopark Basque Country".

At first we went from the beautiful Ribadesella to the "Picos" - here we wanted to have a look at the Covadonga Lakes, whose access roads are passable only a few months a year (in winter/spring) for cars. Here we met great conditions - the lakes were not frozen (which I did not expect at the altitude of 1.100m, where even in the morning at sea level there were 3°C. Besides the reflection was perfect due to the lack of wind. I was also fascinated by the bright rock formations and the wonderful trees.

So the third and last station of the journey was the Geopark near Zumaia. We were already fascinated in September. This time we lived in San Sebastian and explored some new sections of the Geopark from there. San Sebastian itself is a great city with a great architecture and was not without reason European Capital of Culture 2016.

I wish you a lot of fun with this series!
