The goblins of the forest

First of all, I hope you are doing well, considering the circumstances!

These are strange times we have gotten into. I definitely don't want to be one of those bloggers who give further half-knowledge analysis… I think a little distraction is good from time to time and that's what I want to offer you today 😉

I spend the month of March photographically to realize a wildlife project I had been planning for a long time: the world of squirrels. My goodness, that was fun! These little rodents are unique in their behaviour; careful, sceptical, trusting, fast, agile, acrobatic and totally cute.

Photographing them is easy for now. Armed with a few hazelnuts you could photograph them in many places with your mobile phone, as many of them are used to people.

But another thing is to photograph them very close to the ground, well exposed and with the integration of their habitat, it becomes more difficult. But especially restless elements on the forest floor made things difficult for me: a lot of young shoots looked very unharmonious in the back light at this time of the year and due to the storms of the last 2 months there were also many small broken branches lying around. Both of these factors led to an enormous amount of wastage in the recordings.

Some of the selected pictures are not completely "clean", but I am already very satisfied with my first squirrel series, which I will certainly add to in the future.

Have fun with these recordings and many greetings,
Thomas
