At the beginning of September we had to cancel our trip to Norway, because a longer quarantine would have waited for travelers there. So we decided to take an alternative road trip towards the Alps.
Due to the difficult situation we didn't make any firm bookings, but only planned for the next few days, always with an eye on the current news situation.
It became a quite unusual journey. We actually started with 3 days in the Netherlands. Yes I know, these are not directly in the alps, but in the vacation everything is permitted 😉. Since we had already explored new areas there (the two weekends before) we still wanted to visit a few spots there which we haven`t seen yet. That was a great short trip – I will show you a blog series of this soon.
On the fourth day of the trip we went a bit further away: via Austria we went to Slovenia, first to the area around Lake Bled. A great area, with beautiful landscapes, great motives, good food and nice people - which also applied to the further stops in Slovenia. Here we also needed a little recreation, and we took it 😉. We were also able to make one or two trips to the mountain lakes of Italy from there.
Then came the actual destination, the Soca. We spent a whole week there and it was really nice and especially: not overcrowded! - which is really not self-evident in this time with the spots you can reach by car. The last stop was Berchtesgaden for a long weekend.
The following series shows a cross section of the mountain areas of this raodtrip and is rather a by-product of our actual goal - most of the pictures were taken spontaneously, often directly at the roadside. I am happy about these rather surprising perspectives, even though I still have some difficulties with photography in mountainous areas.
In the coming weeks I will show you the series about the Socatal and a series about the heath landscapes of the Netherlands.
I wish you all the best and health in these times,
Thomas
