Birds of the Netherlands

In the last few weeks I was able to take some bird photographs during three very short stays in the Netherlands, which I would like to show you today. All in all I had a good run in wildlife photography in the last two months and therefore I am currently working on four blog series in parallel, three of which are basically finished. Quite often the light and motifs were right...

Today I'm starting with a series taken between Nijmegen, Utrecht and Texel. I had some really nice photo opportunities there. Highlights were a very photogenic pheasant, black terns flying towards me and lapwing and redshank in the most beautiful backlight.

My stay on Texel over the Whitsun weekend was the most productive. You will see only a small part of it here and most of the pictures in the following parts. In this series, most of the pictures are from a bird sanctuary in the Utrecht area - an area that Christina and I discovered for ourselves in 2021.

I won't write much more today and wish you lots of fun with the winged meadow and coastal inhabitants of the Netherlands 😀

All photos were taken with Nikon Z9 and Nikon Z 600 TCS, denoised with DxO 3.

Best regards,

Thomas
