Today I would like to show you the first pictures from this year's trip to Norway, from which we returned yesterday afternoon. For the second time, we spent our 3-week autumn trip away from the coast, in Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park and Rondane National Park.
We travelled with our baby for the first time and it was a super nice and really special time 🧑🏻👩🧒🏻
Before we left, however, we had to make a few adjustments to our long-standing travel habits: firstly, we always planned a little extra time for the daily activities and secondly, we travelled to Norway by car for the first time, by ferry from Kiel to Oslo, in order to significantly reduce the number of motorway kilometres. That worked out great and Ben felt very comfortable in the cabin...
We also bought ourselves a really nice roof box, as the little one already takes up almost as much luggage as his mum 😅
Fortunately, Ben is a pretty travel-savvy little guy; even when he is restless - as soon as you even start driving in the car, he calms down immediately. He also loves being in the carrier on walks, babbles to himself and likes to fall asleep in it. In the following picture, the little one is sitting with Christina, who also celebrated her 40th birthday on holiday 😘
In the end, we were able to enjoy the trip not only with lots of family time but also photographically and - as usual - went on our excursions at every sunrise and sunset. I don't think there is a 2-month-old baby who has seen more moose than little Ben😀
I was therefore able to bring home even more pictures than on our three-week autumn trip to Norway last year and am showing you the total of 81 shots in three parts: starting today with landscape shots, the second part will feature abstract colours and shapes of nature and the last part will be about the land of moose, where we had a few special encounters.
Incidentally, autumn showed up very early again: last year, autumn was already “over” in most places in this area on 24 September - but this year it was much earlier. When we arrived on the afternoon of 28th August, the autumn colours were already in full peak in Dovrefjell, where we were staying in a bungalow, but in August 😮 In Rondane they were delayed by about a week. After the storm on 10.9.24, there were hardly any leaves left on the birch trees between Dombås and Hjerkinn, for example. After that, there were still some smaller areas with beautiful colours, but you had to look for them specifically. We were lucky to be there at the right time, as our early visit was due to other reasons.
We also had some really great landscapes between Dovrefjell and Rondane this year - only one area in eastern Rondane wasn't going to be right with the conditions, where we always had cloudy and fog-free skies, regardless of the forecast, which was crazy. We still have a score to settle here 😉
In addition to the colourful birch forests, I am always fascinated by the ground, which is covered with lichens and mosses right up to the horizon. That's why I'm also showing a few of these details in the second part.
I think I can say that pretty much all of the 27 pictures in this first part show beautiful light moods, that’s why the title of this first part was created😉 Now I hope you enjoy the pictures, the second part will be available next week.
Best regards,
Thomas
I hope you enjoyed the series 👋
Many greetings!
