The award ceremony for the international ‘Glanzlichter der Naturfotografie 2025’ took place on Friday evening. Even though I was unfortunately unable to be there in person in Fürstenfeldbruck, I am delighted to have won the ‘Beauty of Plants’ category this year 🥳
This year, almost 23,000 images from 950 photographers from a total of 35 countries were judged. My picture ‘Rainbow Birch’ made it to the final and even won the category in the end. I am proud to now be among the winning images in 5 of the last 6 years 😊
I remember this morning very well: I had been focussing on winter birch trees for several weeks and the light, the fog and the shooting angle finally came together to create this effect. I was particularly fascinated by the very fine branches of the old birch trees.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the other winners 👍
And above all, a big thank you to all the supporters who organised this competition, including the main organisers Lisa and Florian Smit 👌
and also Mara Fuhrmann and Udo Höcke, who have set up the event in recent years. As well as the jury, who of course did a particularly good job this year 😉
And also many thanks to the sponsors, especially to Nikon as category sponsor for the prize and the prize money 🙏
Best regards,
Thomas
