irst of all, I’d like to wish all blog readers a very belated Happy New Year 🙃! This evening I finally managed to put together a few impressions from Portugal. Much later than usual this year, as unfortunately — already while in Portugal — I had a rather extensive dental “adventure”, complete with some unpleasant side effects 😒. Oh well, things are gradually improving, and now I can finally share a few results and experiences with you…
Once again this year, we spent New Year in Portugal’s mild winter. After Christmas, we stayed there for more than three weeks and, among other things, were able to lead an eight-day photography tour for Brockmann Phototravel. After that, we spent the time there privately.
The climate was more changeable this winter than in previous years. As you will surely have noticed, conditions across Europe were already turbulent around the turn of the year: Fuerteventura, for example, became unusually lush and green; Germany experienced a major wave of snow; and many parts of southern Europe saw rather cold and wet weather. The Algarve was also cloudier than usual, and overall this winter has been rainier across Portugal.
In the northern half of Portugal, especially from Lisbon northwards, there have even been severe storms in recent days, which genuinely makes me feel quite sad — you will probably have seen the images as well 😔
Nevertheless, I would like to tell you about the Algarve during the period from the turn of the year until around mid-January. As last year, I will present the images organised by theme — this time in three series. Photographs from the tour with the participants can therefore be found across all three series. I have named them as follows:
- The Beaches of the Algarve at the Turn of the Year (20 images)
- Details of the Portuguese Coastal Landscapes (20 images)
- The Fascination of the Alentejo Region (22 images)
In today’s first part you’ll find some classic landscape photographs – about half of them were taken during the Brockmann tour.
We had a wonderful time there and really enjoyed the photography, the food and all the shared laughter 😊 Warm greetings at this point to Jule, Steffi, Sandra, Ivo and Sven!
And of course, many thanks to Kathrin Brockmann for the excellent organisation and responsibility for this trip, as well as to Christina for creating such a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere 😊
I hope you enjoy this first part.
Best regards,
Thomas
I hope you enjoyed the series 👋
