Details of Portugal’s coastal landscapes

In today’s second part of my Portugal photos, I’m showing you a few details from the coastal regions of the Algarve and Alentejo—mainly wave and rock formations, some ICM shots, and a few bird photographs.

My personal highlight was two consecutive days when a very “clean” swell of up to 4 meters in height rolled onto the beach with offshore winds. Together with my travel group, I had a great vantage point where the waves could be photographed from the side. We were so excited that we spent hours photographing waves.

Such high swells can often be forecast hours in advance—sometimes even days ahead—depending, for example, on larger storms hundreds of kilometers away in the open Atlantic. Especially along the “West Algarve,” many surfers greatly appreciate this, as there are several excellent surf spots and a well-established surf scene around places like Sagres, Cordoama, Amado, Arrifana, and Amoreira.

In addition, I was able to capture some beautiful rock structures and was happy to add two new bird species to my portfolio: the Iberian Chiffchaff and the Azure-winged Magpie 😊

There’s not much more to say, so I’ll simply wish you lots of enjoyment with the images 😉
